Position Summary:
Wakefield Asset Management Corporation is the General Partner for Wakefield Wealth Management, a boutique Registered Investment Adviser (RIA) firm located in the Denver Tech Center. Wakefield Wealth Management provides high-end wealth management services for select wealthy families and high net worth individuals.
The Wealth Management Analyst is responsible for assisting the advisors in servicing existing relationships, participating in the analysis and planning of the client’s wealth, and generating analysis for new clients. Over time, this individual may have the opportunity to oversee select client relationships directly and support advisers in servicing more complex client relationships.
Job Responsibilities:
Wealth Management Analysis:
- Support primary advisor in developing and maintaining client and prospect relationships. Prepare financial analysis and investment policy statements for current and prospective clients. Prepare quarterly and ad hoc client reports and meet with clients on a periodic basis to review current financial picture, monitor alignment with investment plans, identify financial risks and evaluate exposure to market volatility. Assist the primary advisor in creating solutions to financial planning, tax, estate and retirement planning issues.
- Stay up to date on market trends and portfolio specific news in order to converse ad-hoc about current market conditions and impact of economic, political and environmental considerations. Meet with the investment management team regularly to discuss market and security movements and to communicate clients’ needs and concerns.
Retirement Plan Analysis:
- Act as point of contact for retirement plan trustees, administrators and participants. Perform analysis of retirement plan service providers and expenses at least annually to assist plan trustees in evaluation of current providers. Review available investment vehicles and provide plan trustees with recommendations to add, remove or replace existing vehicles.
- Attend periodic meetings with plan sponsors and participants to communicate plan features and investment options. Communication should emphasize general education and investment results; all investment advice must comply with ERISA requirements.
Job Requirements:
Incumbent must have a thorough understanding of equity and fixed income markets and current market conditions in order to converse effectively with both portfolio management and current and prospective clients. Individual must be professional, self-motivated, organized, work well with others and willing to take initiative and learn.
- CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) or substantial completion of CFP® coursework required
- 0-5 years of financial services experience or experience working with high net worth clients
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship development skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and experience on other Microsoft Office applications required
- Experience with financial planning software a plus
- Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degrees applicable to finance, business, mathematics, and/or investments are highly recommended, but not required
- Series 65 exam and SEC Investment Advisor Representative Registration required within six months of hire
